New Balance has been killing it with the collabs, especially in 2021 and they’ve teamed up with Sao Paulo-based and Japanese-influenced brand PACE on the New Balance 327 dubbed “The Pacer”.
“Amidst the chaos in 2020, and with several uncertainties, we came to the name “The Pacer”, which means ‘walking’ to remember that we are always moving forward, always walking.” Explains Felipe Matayoshi, creative director and founder of PACE. This shoe was conceptualized in 2019 “so from the design process to seeing this shoe finally release is a special milestone for us at PACE” said Felipe.
The sneaker uses Family as the pillar of influence for the sneaker, and for PACE’s Matayoshi, as he taps into his Japanese heritage to pay homage. The sneaker uses a tonal cream look, with the nylon upper using a pattern on the stitching similar to military jacket liners. Overlays are featured in leather in the same huge, with the N logo outlined in white. Co-branding is seen on the tongue, with lace dubraes featuring PACE branding. The heel features NB branding with a reference to the Japanese sport of Gateball seen underneath with the red balls used to play the game. The insole features an illustration of Taiyu Eto, a breakdancer, illustrator, and friend to Matayoshi with cream is seen on the midsole and a gum outsole to finish off the sneaker.
The PACE x New Balance 327 “The Pacer” is set to drop on December 18th on PACE’s website and will retail for $175. Check out the official editorial and on white photos below, and for all the latest drop dates, head over to our Sneaker Release Dates page.
