Time capsules are usually only seen in cheesy ‘80s movies or funky teenage sitcoms. The people involved place an unforgettable item in the capsule that will help them be remembered decades later. Fast forward to today, and we see a time capsule that sneaker fans can really dig. The 1996 NBA All-Star game was played on February 11 of that year, and you can check Episode 5 of Nice Kicks Presents: The Shoe Horn for perspective on the amount of heat that was on the court that day. Packer Shoes commemorates the momentous occasion with the Packer Shoes “Remember the Alamo” Time Capsule. The capsule includes a pair of the celebratory Packer Shoes x Reebok Kamikaze II “Remember the Alamo”. There is also Mitchell & Ness brand All-Star Snapback hat, Shawn Kemp 1996 All-Star caricature T-Shirt, and a white Authentic Shawn Kemp 1996 All-Star Game jersey included. The container itself is a 14 x 8 PVC and steel storage case, complete with a carry handle.
The capsule dropped today, exactly 17 years, 5 months, and 18 days after that illustrious All-Star game. What’s the significance of such a specific date? The numbers add up to 40, Shawn Kemp’s jersey number. Sticking with the theme, the capsule was limited to only 40. Each was numbered, and each is currently sold out. However, you still have a chance to get your hands on the Packers Shoes x Reebok Kamikaze II “Remember the Alamo” kicks when they drop on Friday, August 2. What are your thoughts on the Packer Shoes Remember the Alamo Time Capsule?
