With World Ocean Day just around the corner, frequent collaborators adidas and Parley for the Oceans have dropped their latest silhouette made from plastic bottle waste. Dubbed the Parley x adidas Run For The Oceans UltraBoost 21, the collaborative model’s release coincides with the fourth anniversary of the Run for the Oceans initiative.
This UltraBoost 21 is made with Primeblue, a high-performance recycled material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic. 50% of the upper is textile, 75% of the textile is Primeblue yarn. Below, the signature BOOST midsole has been updated with 6% more Boost capsules, while the new LEP (Linear Energy Push) torsion system delivers less flex in the forefoot for a more responsive stride.
From now until June 8, for every KM tracked via the adidas Running app, the duo will clean up the equivalent weight of 10 plastic bottles from beaches (up to 500,000lbs).
Alberto Uncini Manganelli, GM Running; Credibility Sports at adidas, shared in an official press release, “As a global brand, and as global citizens, we have a big role to play in conserving the oceans and our planet. It is our responsibility to use our platforms, products, and voices to not just raise awareness, but to put into effect real action. In just three decades, the world’s oceans could contain more discarded plastic than fish if we don’t act now – only by working together and uniting can we end plastic waste.”
The Parley x adidas Run For The Oceans UltraBoost 21 is available to purchase now via select retailers and adidas.com.
