Penny Hardway’s iconic signature sneaker line is one of, if not the most well-received collection of sneakers not attached to Michael Jordan. Over the past couple of years, we have seen re-releases of his most beloved shoes and hybrids derived from his classics (Nike 1/2 Cent). Recently, Penny Hardaway himself revealed two new Nike hybrids via Twitter. Specifically, Penny revealed an image of a Penny Hardaway inspired Nike Air Force 1 he dubbed the Nike Air Force/1 Cents. From what we can see, this pair of Air Force 1s possesses a mainly white colored upper with Royal Blue and Navy Blue hints on the tongue, inner lining, heel and Swoosh. The latter element seems to feature Foamposite-esque material.
As for the other sneaker, Penny referred to this hybrid as the “Rookie”. Much like the aforementioned Nike 1/2 Cent, this shoe contains elements from some of the shoes Penny wore in his career. In detail, Penny stated that “the Rookie is a combination of the shoes that I wore my rookie year. Coming in august. All colors!” Sneakers such as the Nike Air Flight One (side panel construction) and the Nike Air Go LWP (toe box Swoosh) are obvious inspirations for this creation. What are your thoughts on both of these upcoming releases? Stay tuned for additional information and photos.
