Has Under Armour basketball arrived? Following the performance review of the Micro G Juke, we dig deeper into the lineup by testing the?Micro G Supersonic. Sporting sleek styling, asymmetrical?design, and UA tech, would these score as high as Kemba’s aforementioned kicks? Read on to find out.

Lockdown:?Solid. The mesh based upper wraps securely around the foot, allowing the foot to breathe while minimizing the wiggle room. I felt confident playing in these right from the jump and the snug fit continued after many wears.

Traction: A dotted outsole might not look like much, but it does its job. A great first run indoors translated to many solid runs outdoors with no slipping or signs of tread wear. These will please stop-n-go point guards and slashing swingmen alike.

Cushioning: Micro G cushioning is soft. Very soft. Some players might not like this, but I’m a fan. Full-length and lightweight, Micro G cushioning doesn?t pack much in the way of frills but it does hold up.

Responsiveness: No issues here. The Supersonics stayed with me on both sides of the ball regardless of the movement. Credit the Micro G cushioning and solid lockdown for much of that.

Support: The asymmetric ankle isn?t for everyone. While that part didn?t hurt my game, it did lead to some stability issues later on. Not a big deal for me, but might be more apparent when worn by a bigger person.

Breathability: There isn?t a lot of noticeable ventilation on this sneaker, so how did they score so well? Heat Gear. The t-shirt tech is carried over to the sneaker realm, keeping my feet dry.

Durability: After many wears, these began to crease up and lose their shape. Granted, it did not affect performance and barely showed signs on fit. A mesh upper won?t break but it certainly will bend.

Overview: Is the Under Armour Micro G Supersonic an instant classic like the Juke? No, but it is a solid shoe. A Heat Gear laced upper provides a tight and light fit for players of all positions. Micro G cushioning proves soft and responsive yet again, while asymmetrical design is sure to turn heads. Competitive and recreational ballers will enjoy this shoe and find it an honest introduction to the Under Armour basketball brand.
