Louis Vuitton has named a cultural icon for its Men’s Creative Director position as Pharrell Williams is set to take over.
The position and appointment follow the foundation set by Virgil Abloh, who was the first Black director for the luxury brand.
As Louis Vuitton continues to expand beyond the walls of high fashion, it has appointed the one and only Pharrell Williams.
Williams’ role in the brand comes as no surprise given the multi-faceted artist’s taste, journey, and overall stake in the world of fashion. From his BBC Ice Cream days with Nigo, who now leads Kenzo, days to his current partnership with adidas Human Race, Pharrell Williams will lead the LVMH brand to a new chapter. In addition to his previous work in fashion and even with Louis Vuitton, Pharrell’s body of work in music from N.E.R.D. to a plethora of produced hits will bring a new elevated sound, look, and feel to the brand.
I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director.
His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.
Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO
William’s first collection for Louis Vuitton will be revealed next June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.
