In what seems to be a “cliche” notion at the moment, the idea of the NFL “never having an off-season” is rather true. Less than a month removed from the Denver Broncos securing another Super Bowl title, the NFL Combine is already underway in Indianapolis, as the finest of collegiate athletes are set on making solid first impressions with potential employers. Although the stage is grand enough, adidas Football is looking to up-the-stakes even more by offering a cash prize of $1-Million dollars to the individual that sets the record for the fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL history.
Although this contest isn’t limited, per se; we are rather certain the “big sexy’s” in the trenches won’t be setting the record as the fastest 40-yard dash time is 4.24 set by running back Chris Johnson back in 2008. With adidas Football providing contestants with the innovative and light adidas Adizero 5-Star 40 cleat, it seems as though the three stripes brand is giving those participating a “leg-up” as it is one of the lightest cleats on the market. However, how light is it really?
We found out for ourselves as we took things into our own hands by providing a performance review and calculating our own 40 times to see how they stack up to the competition. To see more, be sure to venture to Nice Kicks this Saturday as the entire editorial feature will be unveiled coinciding with the on-field work at this year’s combine.
