German sportswear brand PUMA today announces their widely speculated return to the basketball category by honoring NBA legend, Walt Clyde Frazier, with a lifetime contract.

Decades ago, in 1973, PUMA released its very-first endorsed sneaker with Frazier — the PUMA Clyde. For more than forty years the Clyde has been a staple in sneaker culture and a time-honored relic in hoops lore. Frazier’s partnership with PUMA, over the years, has never wavered. Today, he’s given a lifetime PUMA deal for his commitment to the brand and excellence as an ambassador.

Frazier will be honored at an event today at PUMA Hoops HQ in Brooklyn (162 Flatbush Ave). At the event, 73 pairs of special edition Clyde’s will be sold exclusively at the hoops headquarters from 11am to 7pm local time. If you’re in Brooklyn, the general public is more than welcome to attend the event and take part in this new chapter in PUMA history.

In other news, Marvin Bagley III is the first NBA prospect to sign to PUMA Basketball in 20 years.
