Yesterday, news spread across the web that 3-on-3 basketball will be an Olympic sport come Summer 2020 in Tokyo. While LaVar Ball has been prepping his squad since birth, Ice Cube’s BIG3 league laced with legends may have a jump on the half court game. Thanks to UNC standout Rashad McCants, the two parties may have a common thread, too.
Sporting the sorts of OG LeBrons, Huarache 2k4s and North Carolina-colored Air Jordan retros during his time in Chapel Hill, the Roc repping two-guard has something else in store for his BIG3 debut.
“I’ll be wearing the ZO2s. I’m a big supporter of entrepreneurship in my own community so the moment they launched their own brand it was a no brainer to support them. I also wanted to be the first professional athlete to wear them, so come June 25th if the shoe is here I’ll definitely be wearing them. If not, I have a decision to make between a couple shoes like the PG1s and some vintage Kobes that I’ll shock the world with.”
Look for Rashad to wear Z02s and Nike bball heat on Team Trilogy with teammates Kenyon Martin, Al Harrington, James White and Dion Glover under Coach Rick Mahorn.
