Vault By Vans And Leica Are Celebrating Ray Barbee’s Storied Career

Vans team rider Ray Barbee has been skating professionally for nearly 30 years and to celebrate Ray’s career in skateboarding and photography, Ray, Vault By Vans, and Leica have teamed up for a collection featuring the OG Authentic LX, OG Sk8-Hi LX, OG Slip-ON LX, and OG Old Skool LX.

Dubbed the “Capturing the Journey” collection, the sneakers share a similar design language in having a tonal look in their respective colors in suede, with the top eyelet featured in red to pay homage to iconic Leica’s red dot logo. “The joy is in capturing the journey” is stitched on the left sneaker of each shoe with “Ich entscheide hiermit: es wird riskiert” on the other, which translates to “I hereby decide: the risk shall be taken” which announced the greenlight for production on Leica’s first camera in 1924.

The Ray Barbee x Leica x Vault By Vans “Capturing the Journey” collection is set to drop on November 19th exclusively at Vault By Vans retailers. Alongside the sneakers, there’s a collaborative and limited Leica D-Lux 7 camera set to release which features Vans’ signature checkerboard pattern on the body of the camera which is available at Leica stores worldwide.
