Nike is teaming up with Yuta Hosokawa’s READYMADE to launch a unique take on their timeless Blazer Mid. READYMADE, a Japanese brand, emphasizes their look on the Blazers by specializing in upcycled materials giving a unique first impression. Having garnered large amounts of recognition from a number of high-profile publications & collaborations, this time Nike came knocking. Today, we pay special attention to the Blazer, the first arrival in a three-part series from the pair.
Hosokawa, who has worked with Travis Scott & Takashi Murakami, has seen his work attract global attention from fans. Adding Nike to his repertoire will only serve to propel him forward especially considering this is quite a distinctive looking collaboration. While there are certainly familiar aspects to this Blazer, there is much more to digest with a closer look.
Featuring a host of upcycled materials in classic READYMADE fashion, a camo look adorns the collar and tongue. The lateral panels are constructed from a Black mesh and suede combination, decorated with a warped Total Orange swoosh addition. A thicker upcycled mesh makes up the toe box, and the heel cup features a trio of swooshes resembling a recycling logo. Also found on the heel cup is READYMADE branding, added to by the tongue tag & insole. Two-toned laces feature a bungee cord addition across the top of the midfoot. The rubber toe cap & midsole have a layered, boiled aesthetic while the outsole rounds off this design with an improvised reprocessed feeling.
While these will split opinions, we can definitely see some good fits coming together using this model. The shoes are expected to arrive at various retailers for $160 in the coming months along with two more pairs. Slated to land on February 27th, keep your eyes on Nice Kicks for the latest information on this drop.
