Compton, California is a hub for budding hip-hop artists. Straight out of said area and Pharrell Williams‘ latest addition to his “I am Other” label, Buddy, is no exception. The MC, singer / songwriter is already building a name for himself in music, collaborating with acts like Kendrick Lamar, Chance The Rapper, Wiz Khalifa, and A$AP Rocky — not to mention his collaborative EP in the works with the notable Canadian-Haitian producer Kaytranada.
The emerging rap star has been locked into his craft. While he continues to fine-tune his upcoming project, titled Magnolia EP, he plans on releasing his new single, Type of Shit featuring Wiz Khalifa, this Friday.
As Reebok taps Buddy for a lookbook featuring the timeless Reebok Classic Leather silhouette, HYPEBEAST managed to catch up with the rapper to talk about producing his own material, ’90s fashion and what the term ‘classic’ means to him.
