CrossFit, among the fastest growing sports in the world, has been a bit of a rebirth for competitive internal training on a mass scale. Similarity, the popularity of the emerging genre has acted as a renaissance (of sorts) for Reebok.

As the Reebok Nano ventures on its fifth edition, CrossFit footwear and apparel belongs to Reebok – a claim few dispute but with very little merit. The brand’s visibility in the sport is unparalleled, and they’re using that as a springboard to help ignite consumers on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Joining two world’s is the Reebok Crossfit Nano Pump Fusion. Reebok debuted the model this weekend during the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games in Carson, California, of which we were personally on hand to witness. Carefully incorporating CrossFit footwear technology with past brand DNA, Reebok hopes this unified silhouette illuminates a path to beckoning CrossFit enthusiast to sneaker culture, and vice versa.

Much like the Nano 5.0, the Nano Pump utilizes a stretch Kevlar material that ensures performance but also evokes a sleek sensibility that allows for crossover appeal. Moreover, the adaptive fit concept that has enabled the Nano series to soar, picks up where Pump heritage left off. “The Pump has a great fit history. So this was built as not just a performance shoe, but a Nano that you could potentially coach in,” said Reebok’s senior product manager for CrossFit footwear Tal Short who sees the shoe as an on and off the field lifestyle shoe. “The Nano has such a great history, the Pump has such a great history – as a brand we just wanted to combine the two.”
