The mid 1990’s saw some of Reebok’s best signature basketball shoes and the Reebok Kamikaze II was no exception. Shawn Kemp took the court wearing the Reebok Kamikaze II for the 1995-96 season which was arguably his best season in the NBA averaging a double-double and even put up a 20-20 game against the conference rival Trailblazers. While wearing the Kamikaze II’s Kemp was also a starter for the All-Star Game and took his team, the Seattle Supersonic to their first NBA Finals appearance.
Hexalite cushioning gave the Kamikaze II a comfortable ride, impact resistance, as well as lightweight. Standing at 6-10, Kemp was a board crasher known for his threat as a rebounder as well as powerful dunks.
The Reebok Kamikaze has yet to return in the form of a “bringback release” despite the number of sneaker collectors seeking the shoes. It is not uncommon to see a pair sell for $300+ in deadstock condition.
