Big news for fashion focused sneakerheads. Today, Style.com broke the news that Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci will be collaborating with Nike. In recent years, Tisci’s work at Givenchy has been celebrated and championed in the runway wave that has helped shape the current climate of hip-hop fashion. His famed Rottweiler graphics debuted on Jay Z and Kanye West’s “H.A.M.” cover art, with countless artists sporting Tisci’s designs on the move and on the red carpet.
When speaking to Style, Tisci sited Nike as a major representation of both his childhood and America. While Tisci’s work does not typically focus on sport performance, the partnership sees new opportunities for both parties. “I couldn’t bring them technology, instead I brought my style, what people like me for and what the young generation follows me for,” Tisci said.
Tisci’s partnership with Nike, with products reported to bear the logo NIKE RT, follows the Swoosh’s recent work with Kanye West and industrial designer Tom Sachs. It also follows fashion forward adidas partnerships with the likes of Jermey Scott, Raf Simons and Rick Ownens. Slated to release this spring season with product range unspecified, Tisci describes the collaborative work as “strong without being loud.” Stay tuned to Nice Kicks for more updates on the partnership, and let us know if you’re excited about it in the comment section.
