One can never question the strength of the economy when $80 slides sell out in minutes. Or, better yet, one should never question the fierceness of the Rihanna Navy – who came out in droves to purchase her latest PUMA collection.
Released earlier this morning, the Rihanna x PUMA Fenty Fur Slide debuted in three adoring colorways – white, black and pink. Each style, with Fenty by Rihanna at the footbed and PUMA laying in a grassy patch of fur at the strap, sold out seemingly faster than her first highly popular release, the PUMA Suede Creeper.
The interesting thing here is the slides retail for $80. Sure, not traditionally expensive where sneakers are concerned. But they aren’t sneakers. They’re, truth be told, just slippers – glorified yet very well executed “house shoes,” to be exact. This, though, speaks to the purchasing power of all types of consumers and their willingness to support a figure/brand like Rihanna.
PUMA, in their relatively new partnership with the Barbados beauty, continues to thrive both visibly and fiscally. When $80 slides are selling out in a matter of moments, everything is looking up.
