Already one of the best new performance basketball sneakers on the market, Kyrie Irving’s Nike Kyrie 5 is equally positioning itself as a towering style play as well.
Largely fueled by collaborative pairs with Odd Future’s Taco, Cambridge-based Concepts and the off-center Zoom Vapor X “Kyrie 5,” the driving force behind Irving’s fifth signature silhouette is clearly twofold.
The latest collaborative pair comes alongside LA-based ROKIT, a stylish streetwear label that has quickly become an industry staple. Widely adored for its inventiveness and unique blend of American and Asian cultures, ROKIT retools the Kyrie 5 better than anyone before them.
Gleaming in whimsical color blocking with sleek synthetics throughout the upper, translucency makes its presence felt with a striking venus flytrap-inspired lace lock. An imposing backward Swoosh glides over the lateral siding while a mini Swoosh at the quarter panel overlays its counterpart. ROKIT branding protrudes from the heel in a bold visual projection.
To close, the style is punctuated with a vibrant Volt sole unit that effectively sculpts the entire design.
Current reports pin the ROKIT x Nike Kyrie 5 for a February release. An NBA-All Star Weekend drop has been rumored. Stay tuned for more.
Update 2/1: ROKIT’s Nike Kyrie 5 collaboration is set in a foundation that touches on skate and basketball cultures. The individuality between the two acts as a touchstone for something revelatory. Expect the ROKIT x Nike Kyrie 5 on February 16.
