PUMA Hoops announced a partnership with Salehe Bembury on July 29, 2024, in France as the global footwear brand and the renowned designer are ready to enter a new era in the performance basketball space.
“I haven’t seen any other brand embrace change and growth like PUMA has,” Bembury said. “Coming from a background of industrial design that’s all about innovation and creating newness, I thought it was important to partner with a brand that has the same values.”
The latest Salehe Bembury x PUMA announcement follows just weeks after Bembury was at PUMA HQ, kicking off his latest creative endeavor.
“We’ve done a nice job in trying to own this intersection of performance and culture and how to tell the story of basketball through the culture of the game,” said Global Head of PUMA Basketball Max Staiger. “When we look at partners who we want to work with, we look at people who live in both of those worlds as well and Salehe [Bembury] is somebody who has the ability, and proven track record, to do that.”
Through this partnership, Bembury will work alongside the PUMA signature athletes and other products within the brand’s basketball division.
Additionally, Bembury will continue to work with other brands and projects during his PUMA stint.
“The special thing around Salehe is that he’s had his hands in different areas of our industry with other brands as well — that’s what makes him special and unique, and we don’t want to impede on that,” Staiger added. “So together, we’ll focus on basketball specifically.”
