The Nike ACG line has seen many looks. From its ’90s nature boy roots to its recent street ninja revamp, the newly unveiled NikeLab ACG.07.KMTR sees the tough terrain collection meeting in the middle by simply being tactile.
Funky but functional, the new model which reads as “Nike Komyuter” finds inspiration from a brown paper bag of all places. Just how? We’ll let Nike tell it:
“A proposition for increased access and ease led designers to place a bag around a foot and scrunch it to form the shape of a shoe. This elementary act informed an inventive outcome: facilitating the metamorphosis of a single-piece upper from a wide-open entry to a supportive closed state would result in a new performance silhouette.”
The outcome is as interesting as anything we’ve seen from the ACG group in more than a minute, meeting modern street style steeze but also looking like it could make its way on the mountain. Water-resistant, backed by a buckle and taking into account traction, see the NikeLab take on the KMTR in the photos below, set to launch on May 18th.
