Africa’s first-ever streetwear store chalks up a new, noteworthy New Balance collab with a can’t-miss makeup of one of NB’s classics. The Shelflife x Dr.Z x New Balance 574 “City of Gold” not only represents South Africa’s premier sneaker destination, but speaks to its roots and surrounding landmarks. Drawing inspiration from the city of Johannesburg, the metropolis city’s plentiful gold trade, local train system, local “Parktown Prawn” king cricket and African tribal art are all embodied in this special New Balance 574 by Dr.Z. A black and grey mesh and nubuck upper also holds gold portions with pigskin suede and reflective 3M heel panels, highlighted by a speckled midsole and a interchangeable plain and painted velcro “N” patches. Check out other angles and the promo spot below, and mine a pair with all of the previewed extras when they hit Shelflife on April 17th and other retailers on April 28th.
