Although it’s been widely understood that a Nike Zoom Kobe 4 Protro would release in 2019, the brand today officially announces the first release.
Debuting in a “Draft Day” edition that odes to Bryant’s original team, the Charlotte Hornets, the look encompasses dual representation as it also honors the 2019 NBA All-Star Game’s host city.
Originally released back in 2009, the Kobe 4 was Bryant’s first low-cut sneaker. Kobe wondered why futbol’s greatest strikers wore lows but basketball greats persisted on wearing highs. He took those concerns to legendary designer Eric Avar; Bryant got his wish with the Zoom Kobe 4.
True to its Protro moniker, this performance retro is updated from the original 2009 construction. Enhanced to include adjusted vamp shaping, a leaner heel, wider outsole traction and, to the great pleasure of many, a full-length Zoom Air unit.
Look for the Nike Zoom Kobe 4 Protro “Draft Day” on February 15 on Nike SNKRS, Nike.com, and select retailers.
