The Nike Mac Attack is about to take over.
Alongside the news of John McEnroe’s Nike Attack returning for the first time, a bevy of collaborative Social Status pairs are also on their way.
Acting as the first ever to collaborate on the OG model, the upcoming Social Status x Nike Mac Attack will arrive in multiple colorways, each sporting a predominantly “Sail” upper constructed from a mix of mesh and leather. Each is then elevated with contrasting hits on the orange, blue, green, and black tear-away Swooshes and heels, as well as the outsoles. Social Status branding on the tongues, heels, and graphic insoles atop an aged midsole and Gum rubber outsole completes the design. The shoes will come with an extra set of laces housed in co-branded packaging.
The Social Status x Nike Attack “Silver Linings” is the first to release and makes its grand debut in the first episode of The 1st & 15th, a new storytelling journey of summer stories and short films from Social Status.
The first episode of sets the stage for a coming-of-age story anchored on the life, times and trials of young Q. Navigating the challenges and shortcomings of his environment, he builds a small candy hustle off his job at the local corner store.
Directed by Carolina-based storytellers and creators Loyd Visuals, the story draws the analogy to the universal economic cycle felt across people, communities and social classes.
Episode 1 frames Q’s environment and circumstances, similar to that in countless underserved Black, Brown and minority communities, centering food stamps as the key currency at the heart of the neighborhood’s economy, as he works tirelessly to change his circumstances. The reliance on food stamps and food assistance is an important economic driver to help stabilize marginalized communities and families in transition, with the 1st and 15th of every month being a time of opportunity and renewed energy.
The episode features appearances by Dreamville artist Lute in the role of Cash and music by Roc Nation artist Reuben Vincent, grounding the story as it unfolds in the heart of the North and South Carolina environment that is instrumental to Social Status’ history and story.
The Social Status x Nike Attack “Silver Linings” releases on July 14, 2023. The retail price is set at $140. The sneaker will be available to purchase via local priority access at every Whitaker Group store, as well as through a general raffle on the Social Status website, which opens on July 6th.
