When Sotheby’s Scarce Air auction was announced earlier this month, it caught the attention of the sneaker world. The rarest of rare Nike pairs to be brought to a public auction, it only makes sense. Expected to generate roughly $800K, the current total is north of over $550K. There are still 25 pairs to officially sell according to Sotheby’s. Bidding has ended for all the Scarce Air lots, so if you missed out then it’s too late.
Some of the pairs featured in this auction sold for amounts that would make anyone’s mouth water. Among the most expensive are the Air Force 1 ‘Entourage x Undefeated x Fukijama Gold ($88,200), the Air Jordan IV Retro Eminem ‘Encore’ ($56,700), & the Air Yeezy 2 ‘Mismatch’ ($50,400). Those few might just make your eyes water too.
Given many pairs surpassed what was expected in terms of selling price, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the final closing numbers of the auction pass $800K. We can’t wait to see where some of these pairs end up.
