SOUTH2 WEST8’s First Collaborative Project Is On The Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge

Japanese label SOUTH2 WEST8 has been really making waves for the past few years and the brand has teamed up with Reebok on their first collaborative project on the Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge, using the brand’s design and technical inspiration from Japanese fly-fishing method, Tenkara, onto the rugged sneaker.

“We were inspired by a visual of an outdoor field colliding with an urban city and the idea of linking the two,” commented SOUTH2 WEST8’s brand director. “SOUTH2 WEST8 holds little interest in designs that are overly sophisticated or high-tech, in favor of those that are athletically functional. In this respect, the Zig design aptly maintains its functionality, while possessing decorative and assertive elements with great visual volume and presence. These characteristics make it a perfect match for SOUTH2 WEST8 wear.”

The sneaker features a textile camouflage upper with lush green suede overlays throughout with SOUTH2 WEST8 branding seen on the tongue strip. A spiky rubber toe cap brings more ruggedness to the sneaker with green laces and heel looks completing the military-inspired vibe. The black speckled Floatride Fuel cushioned midsole brings step-in and all-day comfort with a rugged anti-slip 30% pre-consumer recycled Vibram Ecostep lugged outsole finishing off the sneaker.

The SOUTH2 WEST8 x Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge is set to drop on November 5th exclusively via SOUTH2 WEST8 in Japan with a wider global release on November 18th via Reebok.com and select retailers for $170.
