With their various sneaker deals, NBA players either wear new shoes every game or just play in the same pair for multiple games. Some players even wear the same pair all season long, while others may change their shoes at halftime during games. There’s a reason for this as it mainly depends on feel and comfort.

Kawhi Leonard doesn’t do anything too drastic when it comes to his game shoes. Yet since he plays so hard, the Spurs All-Star rocks new versions of his Air Jordan XXX1 PE every four games, as reported by Melissa Rohlin of the San Antonio Express-News in reference to word from Spurs’ equipment manager Travis Wade:

Wade said a shoe’s longevity depends on a variety of factors; personal preference, superstition and wear and tear. Leonard, one of the top two-way players in the NBA, frequently needs new shoes because of his style of play.

“He goes pretty hard in the shoes,” Wade said.

Saying Leonard “goes pretty hard” in his shoes is putting it mildly. He’s been sensational for the Spurs this year and has elevated his already elite game to another level this postseason.
