Allow us to re-introduce ourselves. This is Bangers, Sleepers & Duds, the weekly Supreme review where we take either the collaboration of the week (which have been plentiful this season) or lookbook items and put them under the microscope to discover whether the piece is worthy of praise or criticism. “Bangers” is not a section for the most hyped item or what will have the greatest resale value, but rather a place for the best-executed pieces of the week. The “Sleepers” segment features pieces with a great aesthetic appeal that we predict to be an easy purchase by Supreme standards. While most Supreme items sell out in seconds or minutes we don’t believe that this is always warranted, thus, the “Duds” section is for all the pieces that don’t justify your stress or skrilla. This is an opinion article, so take it all with a grain of salt.
For all of those not new to the wave, my apologies for the one-week hiatus, but the most hyped item last week was a thermos and the Independent collab was just aight.
As for this week… info is a little scarce as of now due to the drop occurring Friday because of Thanksgiving. Supreme’s main collaboration this week is with Timberland. The Timberland collaboration has become a staple for the Fall/Winter season but we haven’t received the classic 6″ Premium Waterproof Boot since the Comme Des Garcons collab in F/W 2015. Aside from the Timbs, the only other item rumored to drop this week is the lookbook collab from Vanson Leathers.
Check back for updates as more info becomes available but until then…
Let’s Get It!
Bangers
A black boot is an essential item for any wardrobe and arguably no one provides a more iconic or well-constructed boot than Timberland. This tonal black colorway from the Supreme collaboration adds a subtle patriotic pattern to the winter ready boot by mixing a matte and gloss finish on the premium waterproof nubuck. Combining the durability and functionality of Timberland with the design and prestige of Supreme makes this boot a heavy hitter for the winter months and a no-brainer if you don’t already have a black boot.
Sleepers
If you live in areas where winters are really rough then you know that having a solid glove can be the difference between cozy boy status and complete frustration. Keeping it with the “Made in the USA” theme that Supreme has this week, they have teamed up with Vanson Leathers. Vanson is a Massachusetts based company known for their motorcycle racing leathers. These gloves in particular feature Vanson’s signature bone design and are handmade in their Massachusetts factories. While the rest of the Supreme x Vanson collaboration is made from competition weight (we can assume that means lightweight) cowhide leather, Supreme does not specify what these are constructed of in their FW17 preview. Either way, you can rest assured that these gloves will keep your digits warm while giving your winter fits a badass biker vibe.
Duds
While the black colorway was a winter essential, this red, tan*, and blue colorway takes it a bit to far into Uncle Billy Bob’s dairy farm. Timbs are famous for being a boot that you can throw on with some sweats and trudge through the snow around the block to your local bodega in, but the multicolor design used on this specific boot completely kills that steeze. Matching isn’t as necessary or prevalent in today’s culture, but if you aren’t wearing blue or red with these then it’s going to be quiet for you. Shouts out my girl Bella Hadid. If you’re a Timberland collector and you have a plethora of boots then, by all means, add these to your collection. But if you are looking for a solid everyday winter boot then refer to the Bangers section. It would have been fire if Supreme did 4 tonal colorways of red, blue, tan, and black that all featured the stars and stripe design as the black pair does… but they didn’t. Holler at me Mr. Jebbia.
How to Cop
This week’s drop is just slightly different than the rest. The drop will be on Friday, November 24th in Europe, the States and Online, not Thursday due to Thanksgiving but at the same bat time of 11 am ET. With the Japanese drop still occurring on Saturday, November 25th.
