Did you strike out last week? Do you still have a burning itch to spend cash on Preme? Don’t fret, the second drop of Supreme Spring Summer 2018 is only a moon away.
As expected this release features a significantly smaller selection to the freshness, but in all honesty, this drop list looks like a miniature version of Week 1. The drop includes high-end outerwear, a continuation of the Skull Pile collection and a good old fashion grandpa sweater. Read below to see how this week’s pieces stand up to the criticism.
Let’s GET it!
Bangers
With a quick glance at the accessories section of the Supreme preview, you’ll notice that sports are the predominant theme of this season’s equipment. With items like an inflatable Kayak and a full-blown Pinball Machine, smaller fire items like these Supreme/Wilson Tennis Balls will fly past you like Serena’s serve. The white felt and red box logo gives this collector’s piece a timeless look. Expect these balls to drop around $16.
The server crash, or bot combating, made it rather difficult to get your hands on most of the coveted items of last week’s drop and the Liquid Blue collab was no exception. This week we get another chance at the iconic Skull Pile rock & roll/hip-hop crossover print. The Vans Sk8-Hi and Slip-On are both an easier piece to rock with the Skull Pile Print. Stepping out in these glow in the dark joints will run you $110 for the Sk8-Hi and $98 for the Slip-On.
Sleepers
The World Famous Zip-Up Hooded Sweatshirt checks both boxes for being categorized as a “sleeper.” This piece is subtly branded (category numero uno) with a timeless embroidered logo on the left chest. The logo is especially appealing because it uses Supreme’s birth year of 1994 instead of dating the piece with the current year. Subtle branding traditionally assists a piece in checking the second sleeper box, low levels of hype, which will allow this hoodie to sit around for a good minute. This World Famous piece will retail at the typical $148.
The Tiger Stripe Track Jacket falls into the third category of a sleeper… being viewed as ugly by the masses. At first glance, this piece was a dud. The white tiger colorway looks like a piece pulled out of Liberace’s wardrobe. If you throw that flamboyance aside it’s easier to focus on the glory of the brown colorway. This piece looks like a rare designer vintage track jacket from the ’80s. Think of this jacket as a camo jacket and the fit ideas will start flowing. Stalk your prey for $188.
Duds
It’s no secret that Supreme has become more popular over the past five years. You would be hard-pressed to find a fashion forward individual that didn’t have some idea of the brand. The brand’s recognition has started to turn into notoriety for being worn by snobby hypebeasts. Bringing me to this particular piece, the stacked logo beats onlookers over the head with the fact that the long sleeve is Supreme like a prep wearing two Ralph Lauren polos with both collars popped. If that doesn’t paint the image for you then I can’t help you. Visually yell that you are cool at people for $98.
The Diagonal Hooded Sweatshirt made my jaw drop for the obvious pop cultural reference that it brought to me. So I will leave you with this photo comparison.
Look like Will Ferrell popping the splits for $158.
Happy Hunting!
