The big name Supreme collabs are being consistently rolled week after week this season, with a taste of the Andres Serano and Scarface collections coming in week one, followed by footwear collaborations from Doc Martin, Vans, and Nike. There’s no end in sight for these hyped releases, with leaked images coming out yesterday of the Nike tracksuits to match their Air Humara ’17 collaboration, rumored talks of this season’s Comme des Garcons collection, and leaked images for the second part of The North Face fall-winter drop that is rumored to come in November.
The hype this week is all for the first installment of the Fall/Winter The North Face collaboration, so let’s get into it.
Bangers
The bags are the highlight of this week’s drop. All of these items are made of genuine cowhide leather, apologies to all you vegan hypebeasts out there. The Base Camp duffle bag comes in as a dual-threat due to its padded backpack straps, and hopefully the straps are removable so that the bag can be modified to fit your use for it. The bottom of the duffle comes equipped with “840D ballistic nylon” for all of your military grade adventures. Retail for the Base Camp duffle will run you $388.
If you’re already a duffle bag boy and don’t need another to add to your collection then the Day Pack is up next in the collection. The Day Pack combines minimal branding and quality leather that gives the bag a high-end appearance. The backpack also comes ready for war with an 840D ballistic bottom. The war ready high-end Day Pack will retail at $278.
Last up on The North Face leather bag collection is the Roo II Lumbar Pack. The, over the shoulder, waist bag is arguably the best fashion trend of the year and this is the dopest bag yet. The Roo, just like the rest of the collection, is made of cow-hide leather with a cushioned foam back panel. The padded back panel proves that Supreme and The North Face have been paying attention to the wave and are well aware of how we’ll style this piece. Coming in at $148 this bag is the cheapest of the collection so expect it to fly off the shelves quickly.
Sleepers
The official droplist has still not been confirmed, but the sleepers this week will all be found in the lookbook items. There are still plenty of fire pieces to drop this season including The Playboy Rugby and the Arc Logo Thermal Zip Up to name a couple. The North Face collaboration is a polarizing drop so be aware that sell out times for lookbook pieces will be equal if not greater than some of the items from this week’s collab.
Duds
The leather gloves match the same aesthetic of the rest of the collection but as a stand-alone piece, they are mundane. Minimal Supreme branding adds a subtle touch but there is really nothing else that separates this from an everyday leather glove other than the lambskin leather and shearling lining. Retail for these gloves will be $148.
Along with the gloves, the Nuptse Jacket doesn’t do enough to warrant a flame emoji for this collaboration. We have already seen the same colors used between the two brands for the 2015 “By Any Means Necessary” collab, and while this iteration includes a lux cowhide leather, materials aside, the design is a bit lazy. The leather itself is going to be very heavy in the form of a nuptse, the size of puffy jackets is the reason that most are shelled with a lightweight nylon material. Lack of effort in design and amount of leather will weigh down both your wallet and your ego at a retail of $1098.
