The Jordan Fly Wade is not only Dwyane Wade’s first signature sneaker with Jordan Brand, but it immediately becomes the lightest Jordan basketball sneaker ever created (13 oz). Designed by Jordan Creative Director Mark Smith and Jordan Senior Footwear Designer Tom Luedecke, the Jordan Fly Wade’s lightweight build is also inspired by his rugged, aggressive style of play.
The Fly Wade’s performance specifics include a Nike Zoom unit in the forefoot (responsive cushioning) and a Max Air unit in the heel to compliment his relentless approach to the game all while providing ample support. It also possesses a full-length Phylon midsole (lightweight cushioning) and a distinctive asymmetrical collar which contains a lower cut on the lateral side and a higher cut on the medial side for optimal support and range of motion in the ankle. As for traction, the Jordan Fly Wade features an elephant crackle pattern which provides unmatched, multi-directional grip on the court. Additionally, a rotational traction on the medial forefoot, along with a solid rubber outsole, provides the wearer with easy pivoting and versatile, smooth movement.
Mark Smith and Tom Luedecke also incorporated unique, distinctive characteristics that further personalized this shoe for Dwyane Wade. The most notable element is the newly-designed “#3 DWade” logo on the tongue.
Jordan Brand will release the first two colorways of the Jordan Fly Wade on May 5, 2011 and in China on May 7, 2011, for $140. The second two colorways will appear in stores on June 9, 2011. In addition, the Jordan Fly Wade will be the first Jordan signature shoe to appear on NikeiD (May 24, 2011).
