As all signs point towards Nike betting on women with its upcoming collaborative partnerships, the Beaverton-based sportswear power is growing its diverse portfolio of women’s products that rightfully amplify women’s designs. The creative collective of female design leads at Nike responsible for The Force is Female initiative responsible for The 1 Reimagined, return with new design language for the Air Force 1.
Providing a fresh take on the timeless silhouette through cultural nuance and refinement seen through a minimalistic lens, the women of Nike present the AF1 Sage and AF1 Rebel, respectively. A holistic sentiment circles elegance and cleanliness visible in many women’s designs. The Sage Low and Sage High exude said sensibility with an increased stack height coupled with a streamlined approach to the shoe’s foundational seam lines.
A women’s eye catches and subsequently explores nuance a men’s eye often doesn’t. It’s one of at least a million reasons why women should be designing more sneakers — for men and women. In the case of the Sage High, a shift to a latex upper allows for a form-fitting structure that gives the shoe a sleek profile and stance. Further, with reference to the Rebel, clever and futurist creative is noted at the corset lacing system whereas the tongue operates inversely as opposed to the traditional method.
The Nike Air Force 1 Sage Low launches on October 5 with the Nike Air Force 1 Sage High to follow on November 1. Look for the Nike Air Force 1 Rebel to close the collection on December 1. Pairs will be available at select retailers and Nike.com.
