Vans Vault is teaming up with renowned artist Ralph Steadman for a contemporary collection that includes the Sk8-Hi, the Style 138 and the Classic Slip-On.
The artist himself has become acclaimed for Quavo and Travis Scott’s Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho artwork, while also completing several projects for La Flame on the solo.
While the majority of the collection is surrounded by actual animal species, there are also Gonzovationalist offerings for the Classic Slip-On LX, which reflect Ralph Steadman’s and Ceri Levy’s published books that bring awards to endangered animals and the threats poised against themEach silhouette in the collection draws design cues from various animal motifs: the Classic Slip-On featuring bees and paint splatters, while the Style 138 works a whale design into its various shades of blue. Lastly, the Sk8-Hi familiarizes itself with several recent Taka Hayashi projects with its Zebra stripe patterns, while a red iteration features the indigenous African lion population that’s dwindling year over year.
The animals featured in the collection appear on an array of apparel and four different skate decks as well, consisting of a Lion, the Lemur Leaf Frog, Grevy’s Zebra, the Fin Whale, Garden Bumblebee, Bluefin Tuna, and more.
