Kanye West’s Journey to adidas

During the Fall of 2013, rumblings began to emerge that Kanye West was ready to begin his exodus from the iconic brand Nike, in which he created several notable silhouettes such as the Nike Air Yeezy 1 and Nike Air Yeezy 2. However, Kanye would allude to differences in creative control that would hinder his process and the ability to further grow his line with Nike. As he stated within a 2013 interview with Hot-97’s Angie Martinez, “I told [Nike], I go to the Garden and play “one-on-no one.” I’m a performance athlete.”

Soon after the press run that Kanye would endure, he would announce the news of his venture with adidas and the subsequent release of his very own line of sneakers and apparel.
