Although Jordan didn’t wear the “Black Toes” much on-court during his rookie season, the shoe was a massive hit almost everywhere else. They were seen in tons of promotional ads and even Bulls team photos. But the image that stands out the most is likely the one that helped brand Air Jordan’s for the better and forever.
The famed photo in question sees MJ in his flight suit bottoms and “Black Toe” 1’s with the Chicago skyline to his back. This visual is largely credited as the image that inspired the Jumpman logo. The rest, as they say, is history.
