Michael Jordan’s Ascension
By 1989, Michael Jordan was a bonafide superstar. The then four-year veteran of the NBA had already amassed three 30-plus scoring seasons, and garnered numerous NBA accolades, such as Rookie of The Year, 1988 NBA All-Star Game MVP, 1987-88 Defensive Player of The Year and an NBA MVP. While his awards were numerous, many questioned the star’s ability to breakthrough the proverbial wall holding him from an elusive first championship. However, MJ would begin answering a few questions with his stellar playoff performances during the 1989 NBA playoffs.
