The Creation // Air Jordan 5

The Air Jordan 5 would be the first Air Jordan silhouette in some time, to return to a more “towering” aesthetic. The Air Jordan 3 and 4 provided Michael with more ankle flexibility with it’s low to mid-cut construction. However, with Michael becoming more formidable within the NBA and looking to redefine his physique, Tinker Hatfield created a higher cut sneaker and unveiled the first translucent outsole within the Air Jordan lineage.

Deriving inspiration from World War II fighter jets, this model fuses accents of the aforementioned war plane along the outsole with the jagged detailing. Furthermore, reflective 3M material canvased the tongue and Nike Air cushioning flowed throughout. As seen above and below, the shoe in its original form has remained a staple of modern day Kicks On Court.
