March Madness is underway and what better than big names like Xavier getting in the first round. This weeks throwback was chosen based on two of my favorite loves – college basketball and kicks. That being said, no better choice than a pair of original Nike Dunk High PE’s worn by the Kentucky Wildcats.

These kicks were team issued in 1985 to the players of the Kentucky Wildcats with the school’s logo on the tongue as opposed to the tag that all of the other Dunks had.The year that the Wildcats laced up in the Dunks was a rather successful one. Led by coach Eddie Sutton, UK won the SEC regular season and tourney championship and entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed. Sadly the road ended in the Elite-8 when they were upset by fellow SEC member LSU.

Kentucky takes on Marquette today. Hopefully this post will bring them the same luck that UNLV got from last week’s Throwback Thursday (they won the Mountain West Tourney).
