“The Kid”

After being drafted number one overall in 1987, it wasn’t until the 1989 campaign in which Ken Griffey Jr. would make his major league debut. Becoming the first player to play alongside his father, both Griffey Jr. and Sr. would share an outfield for the Seattle Mariners during “The Kid’s” early tenure.

Shocking the baseball world with a variety of brilliant plays that would ultimately prove to be self-destructive, in many ways – it seemed as though the Emerald City was granted its beckon of hope in the form of a “6’3 Ohioan”.
