Todd Gurley and the Los Angeles Rams are making their impact felt in the NFC West. The former Georgia Bulldog, however, is doing more than just running up the gap and scoring TDs. For the NFL’s annual My Cleats My Cause campaign, the running back is doing his part in improving literacy within the community.
In celebration of Giving Tuesday, Gurley and Pizza Hut teamed up in an effort to improve childhood reading within the community via Gurley’s one-of-a-kind custom cleats.
“In our first year as the Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL, we have a powerful opportunity to work with the League, its teams and players to do even more to support childhood literacy – a cause Pizza Hut has championed for more than three decades,” said Marianne Radley, chief brand officer, Pizza Hut, U.S. “His (Gurley) passion for literacy will not only inspire young readers but will also help drive awareness for this critical social issue we’re hoping to improve.”
Gurley not only understands the effect of his presence on the field but also recognized the role he has in raising awareness and advocating for the youth to read more and learn its importance.
“Growing up, I was taught that reading and writing were the foundation for my education,” said Gurley. “Knowing the importance of literacy programs for kids across the country, I’m teaming up with First Book and my fellow Georgia alumni and Super Bowl champion Malcolm Mitchell, author of ‘The Magicians Hat’, for My Cause My Cleats.”
In addition to that, the LA Rams and Pizza Hut are providing a profound moment as they bring in kids from Inglewood for a reading event in which Gurley will exemplify and express the importance of reading.
You can play your part in helping Gurley and Pizza Hut provide a better reading experience for kids. Pizza Hut’s newest bundle includes a $1 donation to First Book for every purchase. The First Book Bundle starts at $20.99 and will be available until Dec. 31. The bundle includes two large three-topping pizzas and breadsticks all for a good and worthy cause.
