New York-based menswear design Todd Synder is well-versed in all things sneakers. Over the past few years, his namesake brand has not only been a force for the sartorially inclined with a penchant for elevated sportswear juxtaposed with modern contemporary, it’s also been a haven for understated and refined sneaker collaborations.
Partnering with both PF Flyers and New Balance, the latter debuts its fourth and largely coveted NB1 collaboration today. It’s one Snyder states operates under foundational menswear principles in its striking contrast to the minimal palette that often brightens color conformity. “In traditional menswear, a dose of unexpected color makes for a really dapper, unique look,” Snyder reaffirms. “A bright sneaker like the NB1 Sunset Pink can function as the modern equivalent of a pocket square or tie – an unexpected counterpoint that brings it all together.”
Snyder’s New Balance NB1 “Sunset Pink” takes its spring inspiration from the rosy desert sky perched above Palm Springs – a favorite spot of Todd’s that doubles as the location of his spring campaign shoot. The pink shade, which finds placement at the shoe’s centermost point, is the counterpoint Snyder refers to. It’s an offsetting anchor that joins the dark grey and black in matrimony.
Both smart and fun while carrying a refinement central to the designer’s signature aesthetic, the Todd Synder x New Balance NB1 “Sunset Pink” is available today for $218 at the brand’s webshop.
