In conjunction with the launch of his latest studio album Utopia, Travis Scott announces an accompanying film, Circus Maximus, which is scheduled to debut in the United States on the day of his Pyramids of Giza performance.
Circus Maximus will be featuring new music from Scott’s upcoming Utopia album and will be shown across AMC screens throughout the US.
The film’s description on AMC’s ticket portal reads: “Prepare to enter Circus Maximus as Travis Scott takes his audience on a mind-bending visual odyssey across the globe, woven together by the speaker rattling sounds of his highly anticipated upcoming album Utopia. The film is a surreal and psychedelic journey, uniting a collective of visionary filmmakers from around the world in a kaleidoscopic exploration of human experience and the power of soundscapes.”

The promotional poster for Circus Maximus credits Travis Scott as the film’s director, in collaboration with Gaspar Noé, Nicolas Winding Refn, Harmony Korine, Valdimar Jóhannsson, and Kahlil Joseph.
Circus Maximus is being distributed by A24, an entertainment company known for Academy Award winners like Everything Everywhere All At Once and cult classics like Spring Breakers. Shows like Netflix’s Beef and HBO’s Euphoria are also other notable A24 productions.
Utopia is Travis Scott’s first album since the tragedy at his 2021 Astroworld music festival in Houston, where eight people died and hundreds of others were injured. The incident resulted in numerous lawsuits with a Houston law firm representing over 1,500 concert-goers seeking $10 billion for injuries and damages. However last month, a Texas grand jury decided not to indict Scott with criminal charges in regards to the Astroworld tragedy.
Even with Astroworld lawsuits still ongoing, Travis Scott hasn’t slowed down at all and the Utopia campaign seems prevalent, with the album’s lead single released last week, “K-Pop” featuring The Weeknd and Bad Bunny.
The Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Olive” released earlier this year, with Scott’s Air Jordan 1 Low Golf, Nike Mac Attack, and Jordan Cut The Check to release soon.
Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus hits theaters on July 27, 2023. The film will screen at AMC theaters across the US with additional screenings happening on August 1, 2023. Tickets are on-sale now. Check out the trailer below.
