Last Friday, Houston, Texas saw one of the best basketball/footwear events in recent memory. The Travis Scott x Jordan Brand Carnival was both on-brand and entertaining. Playing off IRL experiences dating back to Rodeo and leading up to Astroworld, the carnival theme was the perfect middle ground as fans shot hoops for prizes, lined up for early access to the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 “Cactus Jack” collab and even had the chance to ride a matching Ferris wheel.
Not only was the surprise event appropriately in Travis’ home of Houston, Jordan Brand proved nimble in the lifestyle space while staying true to hoops roots with local Pro-Am talent playing on a Cactus Jack painted court in themed jerseys and the recently released Jordan CP3.XI.
Despite getting shut down due to an incredibly excited crowd rushing in to see their local legend in person, it was fellow Houston heavy-hitter Chase B who truly shut it down as far as footwear goes.
Rocking the coveted Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 “Purple Suede” — nickname pending — at the blue shoe’s launch event, the DJ for La Flame gave the local Houston crowd and the world the first good look at the shoe.
Previously only seen courtside on Travis next to the likes of Kylie Jenner and Hakeem Olajuwon, Chase shot around prior to the Pro-Am run in what appears to be the next in line of three Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 collaborations. Also of note, My 5 alum and Cactus Jack artist Sheck Wes was in the house rocking the “Dark Grey” Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4s at the event.
