The brand that was originally founded on a track in Oregon now has a new long-term partnership with the national USA Track & Field program. Originally joining forces in 1991, Nike has announced that the brand will significantly increase support of all USATF programs through the year 2040. Since being founded by U of O track athlete Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman in 1964, Nike has been affiliated with USATF many times in the past, most notably when Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson donned metallic gold Swoosh spikes. Nike has exclusively designed and provided the Track & Field uniforms for the last six Olympic Games, and will maintain its status as the exclusive sponsor and supplier in the footwear, apparel and retail categories. On top of the main stage, Nike will now fully support Paralympic and masters teams with USA gear and will outfit all participating teams in international competitions, from the Olympic Games to the World Junior Championships.
