If there’s one flaw inherent to traditional Vans models it’s the inability to resist weather and poor conditions. With a canvas build, water is sure to seep through and ruin your socks, and maybe also your day. But in 2011, this AWT Collection will release, giving Vans lovers a way to keep their sneakers handy when the weather gets bad. The Chukka Low, Mountain Edition and Switchback have all been treated to the weather-proofing re-do. The uppers are constructed out of suede and leather that has been treated with 3M Scotchguard to make them waterproof. The tongue of each shoe is also gusseted to keep moisture and debris out. The classic waffle sole was even inverted to add traction in snow and keep you moving. While it may seem like a long time from the release of this collection, it is sure to be well-received by the snowboard scene. |
