In the early days of performance skate footwear, basketball shoes were used by skaters for things other than playing hoops. The soles of Air Jordans had good grip both on the hardwood as well as on grip tape. Last summer Vans and wtaps paid homage to basketball shoes and the days of their usage as skate kicks, but now the Vans Owens Hi LS, takes the inspiration from Jordans another step further.
The colorway features all the touches of the AJ5, 3M tongue, white, red and black colorway, and the iconic clear sole. The style is definitely a simple cut, that looks like it came straight from the 80’s, when plywood ramps and creating your own skate park in an empty parking lot was the thing to do. To keep it up to standards, Vans adds their Impactsorb cushioning along with a more current variation of their waffle sole. Available now at Grip Footwear. Detailed shots after the jump. |
