Yesterday was filled with festivities as the 2022 Lunar New Year kicked off. To celebrate, Vans released the “Year Of The Tiger” collection designed by renowned Chinese artist, Chen Yingjie, better known as Huatunan. The Vans “Year Of The Tiger” Collection features a long-sleeve t-shirt and a workwear jacket, as well as an iconic footwear selection.

Huatunan’s most prized artwork, “Stay Hungry,” serves as the key point of inspiration for this collection. The capsule is adorned with Huatunan’s interpretation of the tiger spirit and explores themes of adventure and perseverance. Through this, Huatunan showcases his art on classic Vans silhouettes by combining urban street style with natural elements like splashed ink, oracle bone inscriptions, and modern city street signs.

The Vans “Year of the Tiger” Collection includes a Vans Authentic with a stark black midsole and ink splattered upper, inspired by street graphics. The Vans Sk8-Hi Echo DX upgrades the classic silhouette with added details. This edition offers a graphic tiger upper with black suede overlays. The Vans Jazz Stripe has an iridescent finish, a nod to the bright colors of the Lunar New Year. The Vans Old Skool comes in two different iterations, with the first pair incorporating black suede and a hand-drawn pattern by Huatunan. The second pair is covered in splattered ink and has Huatunan’s “Stay Hungry” motif on the midsole.

The Vans “Year Of The Tiger” Collection by Huatunan is available now via Vans.com and select retailers. Prices range from $44.50 to $110. For more Vans releases and updates on all your favorite sneakers, follow @NiceKicks on Twitter.
