Vinsanity. Half man, half amazing. Air Canada.
No matter how you say it, the words simply are not enough to portray who Vince Carter truly is and what his presence means to the world of basketball.
In the year 2000, Carter signed to Nike Basketball following his signature deal with PUMA Basketball. The rest was history.
VC performed one of the most mind-boggling in-game dunks that cemented his status as perhaps the best dunker of all time while simultaneously proving that his athleticism was cosmic. Carter posterized France’s Frederic Weis during the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia in the Nike Shox BB4.
The man and his shoes were soon immortalized and imprinted in the memories and dreams of basketball fanatics across the globe.
The Shox BB4 was a revolutionary step out of Nike. For years, the Swoosh was waiting for the perfect athlete to debut the flashy, technical shoe. Carter was the perfect candidate.
The shoe featured an exposed Shox unit near the heel, a forefoot Zoom Air unit, an upper constructed of synthetic leather and an anti-inversion stability structure all for $150.
In the years to come, Carter and Nike were in unison as they took flight dunk after dunk throughout VC’s career. The Shox line, along with Carter’s game, would evolve.
In his 21st season, VC and the Nike Shox BB4 would reconnect as it was announced that Carter would once again wear the BB4.
It’s not often that a player gets to wear a retro of his own shoe. Carter, however, has always been in a league of his own from the beginning.
Untouchable. Unbelievable. Undeniable.
Take a look at some of Carter’s best Nike Shox BB4 PEs from the 2018-2019 season following word that VC will return for year 22. Let us know which one are your favorites on Twitter.
