Virgil Abloh’s “The Ten” is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated collaborations in sneaker history. Right up there with Supreme and Nike SB, BAPE and adidas and many others, Abloh’s “REVEALING” and “GHOSTING” assortment will go down as a monumental shift in sneaker culture. Now, months following the collection’s initial release, Abloh and Nike release a book detailing the design process.
“The Textbook” stands as a 258-page manifesto defining the lengthy process from beginning to end. Each shoe and its inspiration is revealed in great detail, highlighting samples and never-before-seen imagery. The digital booklet travels from the design archives of Portland, Oregon, to feverish Milan, New York, and London launches across the globe.
Countless stories, useful techniques and the effort required to pull off such a feat fill this inspired digital book allowing it to equally act as a guide for others to follow. And, even more powerful, much of the background and research for the book was prepared by the late, great Gary Warnett.
