The industry is losing another renowned retailer this year.

Wellgosh, which started operations out of Leicester, England in 1988, has announced that it will be closing. The announcement spans across its website and three locations: Leicester, Nottingham, and Birmingham.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closing down of Wellgosh.

For over 35 years, Leicester has been the beating heart of our brand and we are grateful to our store teams and the dedicated community that we have created.

Our website and stores will close shortly.

The timeline for the closures is a mystery but we expect them to happen swiftly given the announcement and its wording.

Since the start of the pandemic, retail closures have occurred on a consistent basis for an array of reasons from brands such as Nike closing accounts, a change of buying habits with more drops occurring online, as well as a looming recession among other factors.

Whatever the case may be, the loss of a local retailer — at any level — is a detriment to its community and the sneaker community at large.

Cheers to Wellgosh and their longevity.
