Fashion and footwear are at the highest and wildest height of its existence, which is why it makes sense to feature someone who’s got some of the most exotic wardrobe selections in the game. This week’s feature explores the style of Young Thug who exhibits just how far the limit is capable of being pushed. In a world that’s saturated with the idea of personalization, Thugger is a perfect example of an artist who has most of what he’s wearing customized to his liking and fit.
Aside from his diverse clothing arrangement, Young Thug also has a rebellious attitude about his style all together. His decision for what he’s wearing on a particular day is usually based on countering the norm of what people are telling him is “in” style. His footwear rotation is also surprisingly minimal for the most part, making it easy to wear his more eclectic clothing essentials and not look too far removed from reality.
Let Your Style Roar
It’s hard to get a read on what Thugger’s style is going to be on any particular day, but one thing’s for certain, he gets away with being able to wear some of the loudest prints in the game. Whether that’s a Saint Laurent sweater with a ginormous graphic on it or silk cheetah print button-up, Thugger is adamant on finding a way to let his style roar – literally in some cases. Similar to how his fashion selections rotate between the extremes of simplicity and high-fashion, his footwear selection is the same. Some days that might be a classic pair of Vans Sk8-His with a fun pattern and on others it might be a high-end pair of Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers.
Another hack he’s incorporated into the mix is only featuring one loud item, like a shirt or jacket, then keeping everything else minimal: skinny jeans, track pants etc. If the rules of fashion haven’t been burned to ashes already it’s because nobody cares or they have forgotten about them completely. And if the aforementioned is indeed the case, we wouldn’t be surprised if Young Thug burnt them himself as he is one of the pioneers for mixing and matching patterns that “shouldn’t” necessarily go together.
Making More Noise with Neutrals
When it isn’t the wildest looks you’ve ever seen, Your Thug’s wardrobe selection can actually be quite neutral, featuring an assortment of garment washed tees, denim jackets, and track suits. Appearing in a PUMA lifestyle ad, he creates a casual look that offers a more sophisticated look than sweats and a t-shirt, while the head to toe parings of the same brand indicates that he knows a thing or two about mastering the element of sportswear.
Thugger is an example of someone who practically doesn’t wear anything off the rack. The majority is customized by his stylist to fit his skinny frame or just create a whole new look all together. When he has paired neutral essentials like ripped skinny jeans and pastel tees, he’s made it easy for his footwear rotation to get all the attention.
Minimalist styling that’s right on track.
