Nike Air Yeezy

The Nike Air Yeezy proved to be the first true signature sneaker for an artist as Kanye was involved in the design and wore them on stage. He debuted the then unknown sneaker during a dramatic performance of “Stronger” and “Hey Mama” at the 2008 Grammys. Shortly after it was disclosed that they were the Yeezy and would release.

Yeezy rocked the sneakers of his namesake while rocking crowds on his acclaimed Glow in the Dark Tour and on numerous festival stops including 2009’s SXSW G.O.O.D. Music Showcase at the Fader Fort. He also wore them at many other landmark performances such as Hot 97’s Summer Jam and Nike’s Human Race. A Yeezy 1 repeat would be anticlimactic for this year’s SXSW, that is unless it’s a new colorway…
